Packhead Hosting was founded by Steven "Packhead" Sumichrast after he grew tired of dealing with shady virtual private server (VPS) and shared hosting providers. Impersonal service and a consistent feeling of being forced to "fit the company mold" impeded the already difficult search for the perfect host. Fed up, in 2009, Steven purchased state-of-the-art hardware, including the latest brand of Intel Xeon processors. With time, determination, and a search for a datacenter as unique as him, Steven attained his dream and Packhead Hosting was born.

Packhead Hosting's servers operate right outside of downtown Chicago, in the state-of-the-art Continuum datacenter. For it's clients, Continuum provides N+1 redundant heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC,) in addition to continuous back-up power systems. Continuum's facility is staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, all year long.

Packhead Hosting uses a redundant network through a blended BGP connection, provided by the services of Internap, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Level 3 and many more. The point of presence is located in the Major Carrier Hotel, on 350 Cermark, in downtown Chicago. Our network provides our customers with a top-notch connection, with low-latency and high-bandwidth transport, for whatever their needs may be.
